A. Background Information about HIV/AIDS in Uganda – Africa.
B. The birth of Hands of love HIV/AIDS combat program
Different organizations in Africa and the world over have come up to sensitize people about this pandemic.
We the GDM & Hands of Love foundation feel we are the feet and hands of Jesus Christ. We are the peace ambassadors.
So Hands of Love HIV/AIDS combat program is our small contribution towards the big and urgent need of combating against HIV/AIDS.
With this in mind, Hands of Love HIV/AIDS combat program was born in January 2007 to sensitize the Ugandan population (especially people in rural villages) about HIV/AIDS
We have four major cores
- sensitization
- mobilization
- prevention of mother to child transmission (PMCT)
- orphan care
C. Strategies
With the faithful partnership of Trinity Presbyterian church of San Jose, CA and Rev. Jack Longley we managed to train 100 volunteers in the districts of Kamuli, Mayuge, Kayunga and Kampala / Wakiso in Uganda.
These very committed volunteers reach out to an average of 3000 people monthly with the message of abstinence, be faithful to your marriage partner and Christ centered life. This is what we call the modified ABC method of HIV/AIDS control.
In our ministry, as much as we may encourage people to use condoms, we tell them they are not 100% secure. So when you crown the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord over your life and you allow Him be at the centre of your life, this will save you from the HIV/AIDS pandemic
Our method of operation
Starting from using 4 districts as pilot projects, we have a field administrator who administers 25 volunteers. The volunteers are administered and monitored by the field administrator who compiles a monthly report and sends it to our Kampala Office.
The Head of our HIV/AIDS combat program is the Director. The Director will compile a general report from all the districts and give it to Pastor Elijah Sebuchu
Our Short term Plan
- We want to buy and give 75 more bicycles to the volunteers. This will mean each of the 100 volunteers has a bicycle; the primary mode of transport which enables them to reach out with Hands of Love HIV/AIDS affected and infected people.
- To organize a quarterly workshop for all the volunteers to enable them be updated with HIV/AIDS information, for encouragement and answering complicated questions from the field.
This will enable us to reach out to more people with our ABC prevention methods.
Our Long term Plan
To build an HIV/AIDS training centre on our land in Kiteezi – Kampala near Hands of Love Orphanage and International School.
With this facility, we will be able to organize and conduct quarterly mass training seminars and workshops for the different leaders in Uganda and Africa at large (church leaders, CEOs, Civil Servants, Politicians, etc, men & women of influence) who are able to disseminate HIV/AIDS preventive information and this will eventually save the black species from being exterminated from planet earth.
We need partners
Please come and partner with us in this HIV/AIDS combat program.
The struggle requires a combined effort. This is a struggle for all races, all faith, and all people for all humanity.
